If Gears of War 1 threw you into the middle of a war and left you wondering wtf is going on here, you're not alone. But Gears of War 2 succeeds in gullifiling the gaps while mainting a great amount of wonder and questions at the end. Epic's flagship game has been with me since monday, since then I've had great fun soloing it hardcore. For those wondering, I think it took me around 8 hours to complete the game and a few more hours just looking for collectibles(Similiar to search for CoG tags in Gears 1). Epic's completely revamped Unreal Engine is nothing short of amazing. It allows beautiful graphics and environments with great distance rendering without any hiccups or glitches. It also allows the game to throw dozens if not hundreds of moving characters or objects on the screen at once. Also a brand new AI has joined the game making the Locust smarter and much more challening. The Story line is much more refined then before. The CoG army has been forced back into the last human city, Jicento. As the story continues, you learn that other human refugees have been sunk beneath the ground by the Locust horde. The main point of this campaign is to aid the massive CoG invasion of Hollow, the locust underground area, which is essentially a massive series of caverns. Marcus and the rest of Delta squad travel deep below the earth in oversized drills called Drill lifts. From there Marcus and Dom make their way to Nexus, the Locust capital, to find the Queen. Along the way they are faced with many many enemies as well as a few frightening and challenging bosses. It even lets you control some awesome new "vehicles" such as Reavers, Brumacs, and a Centaur tank. New weapons are a revised Hammer burst, flame thrower, "Grinder" machine gun, and mortars. The game also introduces 3 new key characters: Tai, Benjamin Carmine(younger brother of carmine from Gears ), and Dizzy, a conscripted civilian who drives the drill rigs. This game does not leave the player disapointed and is completely worth the money. If you buy it now it also comes with a DLC code that lets you download FIVE free remake maps from Gears of War 1.
